Benson MBBR

Fabrication, and installation of aeration grids, sieves, and stainless blower pipework for four MBBR tanks at Benson WwTW for Veolia

Bartec was contracted by Veolia to deliver the full mechanical scope for the MBBR upgrade at Benson Wastewater Treatment Works, including fabrication, transport, and installation of all key stainless steel components.

Our works included:

  • Fabrication of four medium bubble aeration grids for 6.9m diameter tanks, using 304 stainless steel with laser-perforated laterals and flanged DN100 headers

  • Manufacture of four media outlet sieves with support structures, including 25mm sparge pipes and full stainless steel assemblies

  • Over 60 metres of stainless steel blower pipework, including primary and secondary supports, valves, and instrumentation connections

  • Full site installation of all internal tank equipment, pipework, fixings, and free-issue components under confined space procedures

  • Installation of personnel protection mesh lagging on exposed pipework for health and safety compliance

The works were delivered using a dedicated site team supported by contract lift crane operations and specialist sub-contractors for cladding. All elements were fabricated in-house to maintain full quality control, with installations aligned precisely to Veolia’s model and process specifications.

This project demonstrates Bartec’s ability to deliver multi-tank mechanical installations, providing end-to-end MBBR process equipment support across fabrication, logistics, and safe on-site assembly.
