East Shefford Actiflo
Fabrication and mechanical installation of complete Actiflo process system, including tanks, mixers, scrapers, and pipework at East Shefford WwTW for Veolia
Bartec was engaged by Veolia to deliver the mechanical installation and pipework package for the Actiflo AS3 process stream at East Shefford Wastewater Treatment Works, supporting treatment capacity upgrades for Wessex Water.
The works included:
Offloading and positioning of stainless steel Actiflo tanks onto pre-prepared concrete bases
Fabrication and installation of all pipework including raw water, sludge and sand discharge lines, service water, and polymer dosing systems—using 304 stainless steel, press-fit, and PVC pipework across multiple diameters
Installation of hydrocyclone troughs, sand traps, and hose reels, with stainless steel support structures and fixings
Crane-lift positioning and installation of coagulant and flocculation tank mixers, as well as two complete Actiflo tank scraper systems
Installation of free-issue pumps, hydrocyclones, and control valves, along with custom-fabricated pipe brackets and supports
Full pipeline flow-coding and pressure testing of all pumped systems
All components were fabricated in-house and delivered to site ready for installation. Works were delivered over an eight-week programme, with coordinated contract lifts and strict adherence to confined space safety procedures.
This project reflects Bartec’s ability to manage and execute complex mechanical installations involving high-specification process systems, multiple interface points, and detailed sequencing—ensuring full integration into the client’s process design.
