South Hailsham WWTW - Actiflo
Mechanical installation of Actiflo process system including tanks, mixers, scrapers, fabricated pipework, and service connections at South Hailsham WwTW for Veolia
Bartec was appointed by Veolia to deliver the full mechanical installation package for the new Actiflo treatment streams at South Hailsham Wastewater Treatment Works, supporting a major capacity upgrade under Wessex Water.
The project involved the installation of:
Four stainless steel Actiflo tanks, offloaded and fixed into position on prepared concrete slabs using chemical anchors
Mechanical pipework systems for raw water, sludge, sand, service water, and polymer dosing—fabricated in-house using a combination of 304L stainless steel (thin wall and schedule 40), press-fit stainless, and PVC
Steel service bridges, hydrocyclone troughs, sand traps, and hose reel supports, fabricated and installed with contract lift support
Coagulant and flocculation tank mixers, lifted into position and installed under restricted access entry controls
Four complete tank scraper systems, installed within the settlement tanks using crane-lifted assemblies
Free-issue pumps, hydrocyclones, instrumentation, and valves, positioned and connected in line with the process model
Full pipeline flow-coding and pressure testing of all pumped lines
All works were completed under a 16-week programme, with phased crane lifts, confined space procedures, and coordination with Veolia’s commissioning team. The system was delivered in line with WIMES standards and included detailed fabrication modelling for on-site fit-up accuracy.
This project demonstrates Bartec’s capacity to deliver complex, multi-stream Actiflo mechanical installations, integrating bespoke fabrication, confined space working, and full process-line assembly.
